Written in a fever of inspiration in bed one morning, said inspiration coming elliptically from the “Rose” poems of Aleister Crowley. Each triplet is an individual haiku, all linked into one short cycle of poems…
Rose of the night!
Bloom of deepening shadows
I lie, latent, in you
You wrap me in your thorns
Tightly
But it’s your blood I taste on my tongue
Your tears, disguised as morning dew
Reflect my pain
Sorry – I love you
Salt water to wash away all fear
Mother of night
Hold me in your arms
Rose of the night!
Plucked, kissed, caressed, bound to the Cross
You bloom forever
